The newly formed Bharatiya Gorkhaland Sangharsh Samiti (BGSS) today released their 38-point constitution.

The BGSS was formed last month from Kalimpong, mainly to take forward the demand of Gorkhaland with the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha taking the initiation for it. The Morcha has been trying to bring Indian Gorkhas under one platform through this with different political and non-political organizations already a part of it.

The BGSS Drafting Committee member Dr. Kishore Bharati maintained that one of the points mentioned in the constitution was not differentiating between people from different communities and religion. He said that they wanted to move forward with the entire Gorkha community and not focus on the projection of an individual person or an organization. He added that their aim was to project the problems of the people.

The constitution was made by the drafting committee formed for the purpose with the body consisting a total of ten members from Morcha, Hamro Party, All Assam Gorkha Student Union along with those supporting the Gorkhaland issue from different parts of the country.

Bharati said that other organizations like the Gorkha Activist Samuha had also formed for the demand of Gorkhaland and were present in the seminar they had organized in Delhi but were absent in a similar program held at Kalimpong.

He said that it might be due to them seeing a brand in this instance, the Morcha president Bimal Gurung, that some were not willing to join them.  Bharati who is also the spokesperson of the Morcha said that there was a vast difference between the old Bimal Gurung and the new Bimal Gurung as he was working with the thought that the issue would be a reality if everyone united.
