The new board of the Darjeeling Municipality was formed today with departments allocated among the Chairman-in-Council members. Bishnu Malla was given the Finance and Resource Mobilization department, Mukund Raj Baraily was given Health, Education and Urban Poverty Alleviation, Nitesh Gurung was given Zamindary, Ganesh Sarki given Public Health and Sanitation, Sitam Lama given Public Works and Saran Chettri Water Works. Members for the respective departments were also fixed along with Members-in-charge for different other departments.
Recently, the Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha along with their alliance proved their majority with Hamro Party chairman Ritesh Portel ousted from his post and Dipen Thakuri being made the new chairman of the civic body.
Thakuri maintained that they will go forward with this new team and work for the betterment of Darjeeling.
