‘Foreigner’ tag: SDF calls for 48-hour Sikkim bandh

News

The Sikkim Democratic Front calls a 48 hour “bandh” on the 4th and 5th of this month protesting against the “foreigner” tag made by the Supreme Court in its recent judgment. The announcement was made by the SDF president Pawan Chamling today at a “dharna” held by his party at Gangtok. Chamling, who is also the ex-Chief Minister of Sikkim, maintained that they should stay united for this issue and those who were against the “bandh” would prove to be against Sikkim and Nepali community.   He said that they had to prove that they were not foreigners and if the SKM government would try to go against the bandh it would also prove that they were against Sikkim and the Nepali people.
