The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) spokesperson Jacob Khaling today in a press conference maintained that the resignation of the Sikkim Health Minister M.K. Sharma could not create any kind of pressure to the central government further adding that it was not the solution for the “foreigner” tag made by the Supreme Court against the Sikkimese Nepali in its judgment recently. Khaling instead said that Sharma’s resignation would only mean that the present government would run long as proven by resignation of ministers in the past. He also alleged that in 2020 Sharma with the help of “outside force” had tried to bring down the Sikkim government.
Speaking about the review petition filed in the Supreme Court by the Sikkim government regarding the issue of “foreigner” tag, Khaling said that they had not only asked the removal of it but also saw to it that the old laws like 371 F remain protected.
