The paintings depicting local dance forms and images of the town’s icon figures like the toy train of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railways and Everester Tenzing Norgay Sherpa were originally painted on the walls by local artist Ramesh Thami about four years, but had slowly begun to fade.

Thami said he is retouching his works and give them a facelift to enable both tourists and locals to continue enjoying his visual offerings. The talented artist said he also has plans to showcase his work on other walls in and around the town with the help of donations from local residents.
