News

A clash between the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) and Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) supporters was witnessed at Namchi in Sikkim on Saturday as the 48-hr strike in protest to the “foreign” tag issue started today morning. While the 48-hr shutdown was called by the SDF, a 24-hr strike has also been called by the Sikkim Republican Party along with the Hamro Sikkim Party today.   The clash was seen taking place with one party trying to open the shops and the other trying to close it. Police however brought the situation to normal after a while. The shutdown today was not a success in entirety but affect of the bandh was seen in some places. The strike call comes at a time when the ruling party, SKM is observing their 11th foundation day.
