Bagdogra man found dead in Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology campus quarters

A staff of the Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) was found dead in his campus residence at Rangpo on Wednesday, officials said.

Fifty-seven-year-old Hari Tamang, a resident of Bagdogra in Siliguri, had been working at the SMIT since 1997, it is learnt.

According to the Rangpo Station Head Officer (SHO) Neeraj Khatiwada, police reached Tamang’s residential quarters after they received information of his death at 11.30 AM on Wednesday and recovered his body.

A source said that Tamang was found hanging from the ceiling in his room and that he may have committed suicide. However, officials said the motive and the exact cause of death can be ascertained only after a thorough investigation is done and once they receive reports.
