A police sub inspector arrested for allegedly raping a woman in West Bengal has been sent to judicial custody
Subrata Goon (52) posted at Rajganj Police Station in Jalpaiguri district had allegedly raped the woman in his rented house. Following the complaint against him, he was closed and got subsequently arrested on Tuesday.
Goon allegedly had raped the woman at his rented house near Rajganj Police Station on Friday evening. The woman went to lodge a complaint with Siliguri Women Police Station on Saturday early hours.
The Siliguri Women Police Station took a zero FIR and sent it to Jalpaiguri Women Police Station for further proceedings. Goon was closed later on Saturday.
On Tuesady afternoon, Goon was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate court in Jalpaiguri where four lawyers tried to defend him and argued for his bail. The court, however, denied Goon a bail and sent him to judicial custody for 14 days.
Soumya Chakraborty, the public prosecutor, said "The court has called for the case diary on Friday."
Goon had allegedly summoned the victim to Rajganj Police Station in connection to a complaint and then had allegedly raped her in his rented house opposite to the Police Station.
