Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to visit the Dooars in North Bengal on 23 January.
Preparations have already started in the Dooars to welcome the Chief Minister, sources at the Alipurduar district administration said.
“The Chief Minister's public meeting will be held at Subhashini Maidan under the Kalchini block in Alipurduar district,” one such source said.
Trinamool Congress leaders held a meeting in the office of the TMC Alipurduar District Committee on Friday and discussed Banerjee’s visit, it is learnt.
It is further learnt that the CM will also hold a public distribution programme on 23 January. According to sources, the CM will distribute aid to beneficiaries under the Chai Sundari, Bangla Awas Yojana and other government schemes, and also hand over land pattas to people.
“A meeting was held today with the district leadership in view of the Chief Minister's upcoming visit and we would join hands with the district administration to make her visit successful,” TMC Alipurduar district president and Rajya Sabha MP Prakash Chik Baraik said on Friday.
