Curtains down on popular drama 'Bhanu-Pala'

Popular Nepali drama ‘Bhanu Pala’ will be staged for the final time on January 18 and January 19, the writer-director of the stage show, Lalit Golay, told reporters in Kalimpong in West Bengal on Friday.

According to Golay, who is the protagonist ‘Pala’ in the play, such a decision was taken due to his health issues.

“The final part of Bhanu Pala-6 will be staged on January 18 and January 19, and that will be the end of the drama’s stage shows,” coordinator of the shows, Vikram Parajuli, told reporters during a press conference in Kalimpong town.

It may be mentioned here that the popular drama, a series of political satire and comedy, have enthralled the Nepali-speaking audience for decades. A product of artists in the Hills of Kalimpong and Darjeeling, the drama, which was first staged on 13 July 2007, the day when the Nepali-speaking population celebrates the birth anniversary of pioneer Nepali poet Bhanu Bhakta Acharya, has left a lasting impression among the Hill people of all ages.
