The Centre will soon call a tri-parite meeting to discuss the political issues of Darjeeling hills, Terai and the Dooars, Raju Bista the BJP's Lok Sabha MP from Darjeeling said on Monday evening after meeting with the union home minister Amit Shah.
Bista met Shah in New Delhi.
Writing on Facebook after the meeting, Bista said " Shah told me that the central government will be initiating tri-partite talks involving the union government, the West Bengal government, and the representatives of the Gorkha community at the earliest.
"Amit Shah ji reiterated the union government’s commitment to resolving all issues concerning the people from our region, through dialogue and taking a holistic approach to consider concerns from all stakeholders."
"The preparations for continuation of the tripartite talks are being undertaken by the ministry of home affairs, and the meeting dates will be announced soon," Bista informed.
The BJP which has been winning Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat since 2009 promising to solve the political issues engulfing the region had called tri-parite talk on October 12 2021.
The Centre's announcement to call another tri-parite talk immediately after Diwali of 2022 never materialised, thus raising the questions about the Centre's seriousness on the Gorkha political issues.
